The company, a woolen cloth and knitting mill in Campton, N.H., was established in 1826 by Erastus Dole. It remained under family management until it closed in 1961. By the 1880's, the company was producing cassimeres, tweeds, flannels, felt, and satinets. Around 1900, it began to manufacture finished knit goods, socks, sweaters, and pants.
